5 STEPS TO NEVER RUN OUT OF CONTENT FOR YOUR BLOG

November 29, 2017

Someday, sometime, you are going to run out of content.  Some of you may laugh now, but heed my warning-it will happen.  But how do you know if you are running out of content?  It will happen something like this:

At first, you’ll just miss one post, because you just couldn't think of something to write about. Then you'll miss two posts, then three and after that everything will go downhill.  You’ll start thinking of your blog with dread, even though you try to push such thoughts from your head.  After a while, you’ll force yourself to write a post.  You’ll promise yourself that you can and will do it.  But the moment you open the draft you will become unaware of what words are anymore.  All inspiration will leave you until eventually you think the only cure is to delete you blog.  Henceforth, the world will end.  Because without your advice, creativity and unique voice, the world will collapse in on itself.
Moral of the story, never ever let yourself run out of content.

“But how, Ella?  How do I do this alone?”  You might be asking.
Read on, my dears.  Read on.

1.

Take inspiration from around youMy last post was written off of conversation I had with my older sister, plus some random thoughts of mine.  My guide to the perfect day off, was inspired by a comment I read about another blogger who said she had trouble ever relaxing.  There are millions upon million of things to think about.  It's really just about getting and idea and saying everything you possibly can about it.

2.

Steal another blogger’s content.  Just kidding, just kidding!  Do not ever, ever steal a blogger's content, because you will be shunned by every blogger out there and will end up deleting your blog and then, well, see above.  But you can sort of steal.  Instead, of copying and pasting someone’s content onto your blog, try getting an idea from another post.  This can be super helpful when you’re really stuck.

3.

Pinterest.  I know I’m constantly talking about Pinterest, but it can be so helpful with blogging.  I’m always finding inspiration from there.  If you search December blog posts, you’ll find some great ideas.
4.

Write about how you find blogging inspiration.  Seriously, it’s what I’m doing this very minute.  To be quite honest, I was having a little trouble coming up with a post idea and ended up missing my Saturday post.  I think it was good for me to take a little break and come back to my ideas with fresh eyes.

5.

Take a break.  I know this goes against everything I’ve been saying, but sometimes, you just need to rest.  Inspiration will come again, so don’t stress.  If you miss one or two posts, it’s okay.  When you come back and start posting again, there will be things to say again and your readers will be excited to hear from you.  No matter what, the things you have to say are important and needed.  Don’t let your light stop shinning.

Talk to Me

Do you ever run out of blog post ideas?  How do you come up with inspiration?  What are your favorite posts to write?  What are you favorite posts to read?  Do you love Pinterest?  Have you ever *gasp* stolen a post idea?  Tell me in the comment below!

  1. I'd add a 6th one - refocus your blog.

I recently had this sort of trouble on my first blog. I had run out of things to post about since I wasn't doing any of the things that I said I was doing. So I shifted to posting more about what was going on in my life, and voila, I now have new content to share!

Stealing tags is also another way to change things up.

    1. Oooh, that's a great tip, Catherine! I had a little bit of the same problem with my last blog (Pip and Lolly), but have no such troubles now. Thanks for commenting!

  2. I haven't been blogging for very long, so I haven't had a chance to experience the "I-don't-know-what-to-post-about-and-now-my-blog-will-suffer" syndrome. Actually I have the opposite problem - too many ideas!!

Most of my inspiration comes from other bloggers - an idea that they wrote about, that I feel like I have something to add. Sometimes it comes from a conversation I've had online, or an idea I've been thinking about. And if all else fails, I could always post about books (because I read a lot of them).

PINTEREST IS AMAZING! I don't find that it helps with blog post ideas much, but it definitely helps with aesthetics and layout. The thing with Pinterest is that you have to force yourself to actually "do" something with all that inspiration. It's really easy to scroll for hours and get absolutely nothing done. *raises guilty hand*

I love this post a lot.
    all the best.

  3. So ture! I love taking inspiration from everything around me. I find the most helpful thing is to keep a list of ideas -- to just jot down those random fleeting ideas so they'll be there when you need them! Awesome post ^-^

  4. Woah, AWESOME post, Ella! I love all your tips and the pretty images. I keep a Note in my Notes app full of random post ideas, and I ALWAYS write inspiration down, otherwise I forget it.

  8. Thanks for the tips! My blog is called My Homeschool Notebook, and sometimes I feel like I'm not living up to my blog title? Sometimes I feel like my life isn't interesting enough since we moved to the suburbs. But if I did change my blog name I wouldn't know what to change it to. :P Loved this post!! You are an awesome blogger. <3

    1. Ugh, I totally know that struggle. I used to blog with my sister, and it was supposed to be about our adventures together, but it didn't work out that well. So, that's why I switched over to February Fairy. Thank you, Zielle!

Are you about to leave me a comment? Wow! Thank you so much. Comments literally make my day. To be honest, hearing from other girls is the main reason I blog.
