RILEY ALINE BLOG TOUR + INTERVIEW

January 06, 2018

I have some SUPER exciting news for you guys today.  My sweet friend Riley Aline is starting a new blog.  To celebrate I'm interviewing her on my blog.   Her answers were so much fun to read and you guys literally MUST follow her blog.

I "met" Riley a while ago when she commented on one of my posts.  She is one of the nicest bloggers I've had the pleasure of meeting and I am so stoked for her new blog to launch.

Hi Riley, would you like to introduce yourself?

Hi Ella! Sure thing. I’m Riley, I’m 16 years old, and I’ve been homeschooled for most of my life. I juggle writing stories, playing music, keeping up with school, reading, and playing basketball. I’m a huge Star Wars fanatic, a Casting Crowns fan, and a lover of all things blue.

Why did you switch blogs?

Last February, I started my first blog- a free one- to see how I liked it. And, welllll, I liked it. Mainly, I decided I wanted my own domain, and more freedom to make it look how I wanted it to. It also gave me a chance to kind of start over and give myself more of a theme.

What inspired you to start Riley Aline?

For the most part, just me wanting to get my own domain. But as I said, I liked the idea of starting up a new kind of a theme. My tagline is “Seeking to Glorify and Edify through the Written Word,” because that’s exactly what my goal is. I want to glorify God through my writing, as well as encourage and uplift others. The way I feel about it, if I’m not writing to glorify God, there’s no point. In the end, that’s what’s going to matter. So, that’s also part of the reason for my blog.

What’s your favorite part of blogging?

Definitely the community. Before I started blogging, I had no clue there were actually other young writers out there! It’s awesome. I also love when something I say means something to someone. It’s one of the coolest feelings ever.

Which bloggers inspire you?

I lovvvvvvvve Audrey Caylin’s blog, as well as Abbiee’s! They both post inspiring, original posts, and I love reading them!! It’s helped me realize that a lot of the time, people like hearing your opinions and thoughts on things- because they’re unique! I think that’s what makes every blog unique, and it’s what draws people back to your blog. It’s made me less scared to try to share mine more.

How is your blog unique?

My blog is unique in that I’ll be sharing my writing, my experience, my opinions. As I said before, I was scared for a while of sharing my thoughts and opinions on things because they “might not be right.” But I think if someone takes the time to read my blog, they must be wanting to hear from me, and hear what have to say. So, it’s unique because you’ll be hearing my voice. And you may not always agree with it, but that makes it mine.

What sort of posts can we expect to read on your blog?

Mainly, I’ll be posting about my writing, things I’ve learned about writing, and my faith. But in the past, I’ve interviewed other writers, I’ve included wrap up posts, and randomness as well, so I’m sure those things will be thrown into the mix!

What is the very first blog you remember reading?

I’m pretty sure it was Kristen Kieffer’s blog when it was still “She’s Novel” and not “Well-Storied.” I had just started out writing, and I needed all the advice I could get.

What advice would you give a new blogger with no experience?

I would tell them, don’t worry so much about “messing up.” I feel like there are a lot of people out there who are afraid to start a blog because of this. But from personal experience, you don’t really know what it’s like until you actually get it going. I didn’t have a clue about what was going to happen when I started a blog. All I knew is I’d be writing about something I enjoyed. Don’t be so worried about messing up- meeting deadlines, always getting a post out, meeting the expectations of others- just do what you love doing, and as you grow, you’ll begin to find your unique blog. You’ll figure out how to do things. If you don’t enjoy blogging, there’s so point. I’m not saying it isn’t a good thing to write for your audience- something you’ll want to focus on as you grow is making sure your followers are getting something out of the time they take to read your blog. But if that’s all you’re doing, and you’re not enjoying it, or taking breaks when you need to, it doesn’t really matter. So, when you’re first starting out, don’t worry so much about messing up. Because I think you really don’t know until you try. And make sure you’re having fun, too.

If you could get together with all your blogging friends, what would it be like?

Oh, this is such a fun question! Ok, first off, I’d totally be freaking out the whole time because I’ve never met any of my blogging friends in person and that’d be the best thing ever!! I’d HAVE to order pizza and make some waffles...(because I’ve heard these are some favorites...;) Or, maybe we could all make homemade pizzas with all the toppings ever. And we’d have a big photo shoot with fairy lights and sparklers (because why not???), and this may or may not have to take place in a cabin in the mountains. We’d have to jam out to music (or play it ourselves). And then later on, star gazing time!! This totally needs to happen!

Have you followed Riley's blog?  If not, you should totally follow the link and give her some encouragement.  What's YOUR favorite part of blogging?  Which of Riley's answers was your favorite?  COMMENT BELOW!

Are you about to leave me a comment? Wow! Thank you so much. Comments literally make my day. To be honest, hearing from other girls is the main reason I blog.
