WHAT INSPIRES ME | COLLAB WITH KEIRA

by - February 24, 2018

I am so excited for you guys to read this post, I'm practically bursting.  Keira and I are both talking about what inspires us, personally on our blogs.  I would highly suggest checking our Keira's blog.  She has such a gorgeous name, don't you think?  She is also one of the most honest, real seeming bloggers I have met.
When I began this post I thought long and hard about what I was going to say. It couldn’t be anything. I wanted people to feel like they were seeing inside my head. The way things work inside me.  I'm different. Everyone is.

Inspiration can mean anything. Inspiration can be the push to do something you’ve wanted to, but were too afraid before.  Inspiration can be the idea that bubbles up in the back of your head. Making your heart beat faster.  Making you want to do something amazing.  But inspiration can also be quiet.  It can be silence.  That soft but steady feeling that it’s going to be okay.

The definition of inspiration is:

"The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.
A person or thing that inspires.
The quality of being inspired especially when evident in something.
A rare moment in inspiration in an otherwise dull display.
A sudden brilliant, creative or timely idea.
The drawing in of breath. Inhalation.
"

Inspiration is beautiful. So, what is it exactly that inspires me?

There are lots of things.  My family.  Plants.  Books.  Pinterest.  My own mind, even.  My mind never seems to stop.  It’s always buzzing with new unexplored ideas.  I don’t know if everyone’s mind is like that, but I like it.

Whenever I read anything I sympathize with the characters so much.  Real people, risking their lives for what they believe in.  Colombu, his children, Julius Ceaser.  Every one had a life.  A favorite food.  A like or dislike of baths. All those people from history had hopes and dreams and fears.  As real and tangible as yours.

They were all here for a reason.

I'm a happy person. I consider myself happy, anyway. Obviously, I get mad and sad.  But overall I'm filled with joy.

But why? Why is it that I can be so joyful and energetic when other people feel their life is so pointless.  Part of it is perfectionism.  I have never though perfect was all that achievable.  Which in same cases, I supposed it is.  But art is different.  Art is part of who your are.  And if you aren’t perfect, then why would your art be?  Why would your creativity express something that you aren’t.

"She wasn’t pretty.  She looked like art.  And art wasn’t supposed to look pretty, it’s supposed to make you feel something."

That quote is so, dang true. When I see images of the sky or photos of the woods I feel something deep stirring within my soul. Everyone might feel this way or maybe it’s only me, but it’s one of the most glorious parts of being alive. To be able to feel things and learn and grow.  That’s what the essence of being alive is.

I don’t know where my inspiration comes from. I believe it comes from God.  He’s The Creator and we were created by Him, so it would makes sense that we’re born to create.

Inspiration is what drives us to live bigger and fuller lives. Lives filled with more sunshine, more laughter, more joy.

Pink.  Good Vibes.  Floral.  Vintage.  Together.  Daydreaming.

I’ve included a collage with photos that set my pulse pounding.  I’ve also created an entire Pinterest board dedicated to myself of things I can look at when I’m sad or need to smile.  I’ve also written down below the collage a few words that resonate with me.

What do you think? Where do you think inspiration comes from? What do you think it is

It makes me excited to create and spread joy and do ALL THE THINGS. I also have a board full of quotes to motivate me when I'm feeling down, and it's such a great tool. :D

  3. You're so thoughtful! The intricate design of everything is so beautiful and inspiring. Inspiration, I think, comes from God. I mean, he made us. He's a painter and we're his art. All the details, colors and contemplation involved in design is just so inspiring in itself.
Oh, and it's nice to "meet" you! I am a Christian and love theater myself, so this is great!

  4. THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL. This post sent MY heart pounding! Everything that you said here was so amazing, Ella.

I think my inspiration always comes from beauty and healing a midst brokenness. I think everything like that is a physical, real manifestation of the Cross -- healing in a messy world. It 1000% comes from God for me.

Btw, I love your new design! You have an amazing blog here <3
