YOUR QUESTIONS AND MY ANSWERS | PART 2

by - March 21, 2018

Phew.  I had no idea answering blogging questions was going to take this long.  But I finished and I truly hope you find a few jewels of truth inside.  I hope I don't do another Q&A for a good long while.  In the meantime, please enjoy the post!  I can't wait to share my tips and thoughts with you.

When did you decide you wanted to be a blogger?
There wasn't any sort of life changing experience that made me decide.  I just did. My first blog was my sister’s idea and I was rolling with it until – BAM – I realized I wanted/want to be a blogger forever.

What's the biggest piece of advice you would give to another blogger?
ASK QUESTIONS.  If you don’t know how to do something or are hoping for a little advice then ask a blogger who knows their stuff.  Most everyone is happy to give advice, plus you usually end up making a new friend.

How did you pick the name for your blog?
I don’t remember exactly how I came up with the name. I remember, for a while I had been experimenting with different blog names, but nothing felt natural. I wanted something me. Then one day it sort of popped into my head, The February Fairy. I ended up changing it to February Fairy, for consistency and the alliteration sounds much better. But it mostly stayed the same.

The “February” part is because it’s my birthday month, and “Fairy” because I think every girl should feel as graceful, elegant and feminine as a fairy, that’s part of the message I’d like to convey through my blog.

What is your biggest blogging tip?
Three people asked me this question, so I’m going to share my top 3 tips.

1.  Interaction is key.  Plus, it’s literally the reason I blog-to meet other girls all over the country or world.  Having a pretty theme and quality content is also important, but it doesn’t matter if you no one knows about it!  Every time you read a blog post tell the blogger.  Be relatable and enthusiastic about what you say.

2.  Write about subjects you enjoy.  Trying to fit in will do NOTHING for you.  People look for a unique blog and blogger.

3.  Use good grammar.  Of course, there are a some bloggers who can pull off tbh-s and little punctuation (like this girl right here), but if you are trying to write an informative post I don’t want to be Googling abbreviations.

My point is, interaction + being yourself + grammar = a better blog.  For even more on the topic I wrote a whole post about blogging tips right here

If you had to guess, how many people/blogs do you think you're subscribed to?
Gosh, a LOT.  Maybe 80 something?  I recently unfollowed a few blogs, so it might be less now.

What is your favorite thing to read about on blogs?
I enjoy all types of posts, but one thing that makes me click is the promise of something.  The promise of learning something new or a better way of life.

What is your favorite kind of blog post to write?
Lifestyle and inspiration.  I love clicking publish hoping my post might make someone think differently.

What's your favorite thing about blogging?  How's your day going?

  1. Great tips, Ella!! I also love interaction the most. I’ve met so many sweet people, and it’s aweosme. I also love taking my time to write a post that means something to me and getting to share it with everyone. Those kinds of posts that you end up wishing you could take down last minute because you’re so nervous, but then you get great feedback on them?? I love it!
I loved reading your Q&A posts so much, Ella!!

    1. THANK YOU RILEY ALINE! Yess, interaction is the bomb. *fist bumps* Oh my gosh, those are the best! But something I hate is when I expect to get a good response on a post and no one reads it. Do you ever have those ones? Thank you for your sweet comment! *sends sparkles*

    2. Yes, I’ve had those before...it can certainly be discouraging. But I try not to get too down about it if it’s a topic that means a lot to me. <33
