MY SUMMER 2018 IN REVIEW

by - August 18, 2018

Let me tell ya, summer went by way too fast for my liking.  It seems like June was just yesterday and now it's already halfway through August!

If I learned anything this summer, it was that life is always changing.  Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.  We never know what changes lay ahead, which is why we need to put our lives in the hands of the person who does: Jesus.

Goals

At the beginning of summer, I wrote up a post on having a productive summer.  I shared dozens of goals I wanted to achieve. I planned on micro managing every aspect of my life, until I’d found a “perfect” balance.  I wanted to do it all.  But the truth is, I didn't achieve very many of those goals at all.  In fact, there are a few I didn't even touch.

I should’ve known that sort of life has never been plausible for me.  I live for variety and a sedentary lifestyle is not for me.

Looking back, I don't regret letting go of those goals, either.  I had an incredible summer.  I learned to love myself more than I ever have before.

I grew my confidence and perseverance.  I'm not perfect, but that was never the goal.  I've started to feel like I'm exactly where God wants me, and that's the best feeling imaginable.

So, no.  I don't have many goals I can tell you I achieved.  I don't care about them quite as much any more.  I don't know what God has planned, but I know it's going to be amazing.

Summer Happenings

My sister got married!  I can’t believe they are married and it couldn't have been a prettier wedding.  I literally cried bucket loads, but at least it made my Maid of Honor speech touching, right?

.  So much swing dancing.  I think I've found the love of my life.  The lifts are literally what I LIVE for.  Who else always thinks of La La Land when dancing?

Swimming until my toes and fingers were wrinkled because you have to soak up those precious moments.

.  I got braces!  I'll be honest, I expected this to be a bigger change than it really was.  Most days I only think about them when I'm eating or brushing my teeth.

My Mom, little sister and I went on a day trip to Santa Fe and it was truly a great day.  If you ever visit New Mexico it should totally be on your bucket list.

.  I went shopping almost every week in early summer.  I'm so glad now (even though I'm slightly broke) because I have tons of cute clothes to wear.

I got to be an extra in my friend's 48 film project short film.  He ended up winning best film for the state, so make sure you check it out here!

.  My friend asked me to model in her photoshoot and it was literally the best.  The whole thing majorly brought out the inner fairy in me.  ;)

.  I've done so much art work lately.  There is something about creating with paper and pens that makes me feel alive.

.  I played volleyball and completely scraped up my knee going after ball.  At least I hit the ball, right?

.  The sunsets never fail to astound me.  Almost every evening we've gone for nice long walks to watch the sunset make the Sandia mountains turn pink and purple.  If you don't go for evening walks I 10/10 recommend.

.  At this point, I've probably eaten 2 whole watermelons all by myself.  I think it would be called a full fledged obsession.

Talk to Me

What about YOU?  What did you do this summer?  Are you a crazy watermelon eater, of is that just me?  Favorite songs lately?  What has God been teaching you?

  2. it sounds like you had a really good Summer!!!!! AND YOU GOT TO GO TO SANTE FE? That's soooo neat!!

I actually did a lot this Summer. I graduated high school (this technically wasn't in the Summer but it was close enough xD), turned 18, ate TONS of ice cream, got my drivers license, and started my first job just to name a few. It's been a great Summer for me, though its gone by a little to fast.

I hope you have a lovely Fall <333

    1. Thank you! The ones my friend took? Because I agree! I guess you could say they are professional, since she does get payed. Wasn't it cool! I'm so happy you liked it!

Oh, haha. It's not great, since my theatre company actually ended... But I'm hoping to get into another theatre.

    2. You're welcome! I loved all of them. If I knew some film makers I would love to join them; especially writing scripts or acting for them.

Oh no! I hope you find another company that you like. I'm trying to find a little theater group to join, so we're both on the same page. lol
