HOW TO TAKE BACK YOUR "OFF" DAYS

by - September 08, 2018

We all have those “off” days.  The days where you hit snooze one too many times, spill water all over the floor and find a stain on your favorite shirt.  Maybe everything seems worse because you’re tired or maybe you’re upset because of something that happened yesterday.  No one likes those groggy, irritable days.
But how can you fix them?
Easy, simply follow my step by step guide to take back your day and you’ll be smiling in no time.

Take a Step Back

Yes, you DO have enough time for a little break.  Sit down in the cleanest part of your house or go for a quick walk up and down the street.  Tell your family that you need a couple of minutes to figure something out, that way you don’t have lots of little siblings following you around.
Now that you’re alone, reevaluate why you aren’t feeling it.  I’ve found that it is often a simple answer, such as having a lot on your plate or knowing you have some unpleasant task ahead of you.
Take some deep breaths and pray.  Ask the Lord for strength and if it’s a really awful day, feel free to cry.

Ask These 3 Questions

  1. When was the last time you ate something healthy?
  2. Have you had enough water in the last 24 hours?
  3. When did you last get in physical activity?

Take 15 minutes to correct any issues you have with these questions and you will feel worlds better.

Clean Your Space

This one is more optional, since you may or may not have the time to do it.  But if you do have a while before you have to get working, then don’t skip it.  I’ve found that having a clean working area/room is deeply therapeutic and rejuvenating.  I don’t know about you, but I cannot work in a crazy messy environment.

Get a Hustle on

Now is time for the real work.  Get out your work and set a timer for 25 minutes.  After the timer goes off take a 5 minutes break to stretch – NO PHONE.  This is a break to move your body and give your mind a slight rest, not slump back into Instagram Oblivion*.
After an hour you can take a longer break of 10 to 30 minutes, then repeat until everything is done.

Be sure to keep yourself fed and hydrated.

*It’s a real thing, ya’ll.

Reward Yourself

When you’ve finished you will very likely feel tired, but hopefully you’ll also be relieved and in a better mood to have all your work done.  There is no better cure for a difficult day than productivity.  Be sure to reward yourself by taking a while to do something you love.  Be that crafting, watching a movie or eating an entire tub of ice cream yourself*.

*I assure you, there is no better reward than ice cream.

Talk to Me

What’s something you do to get over those dreaded “off” days?   Raise your hand if ice cream sounds good to you right now.  What’s one thing that always gets you down?  Are you homeschooled, public schooled or private schooled?

Wishing you a fabulous day,
Ella Marie
